Yes, and that is according to the doctor who treated my husband for the problem thirty years ago.

I personally know two people who had it twice -- my first boss and one of my good friends. My husband has been more fortunate, thank God.

Take good care and get enough fluids and rest!!

First time I got mono: Had cough, fevers for one and a half months, headaches from the swollen lymph nodes in my neck, swollen spleen, inflamed liver, and couldn't stay up more than 4 hours in a day. I ended up getting septic shock, stayed in the hospital for a week and got a blood transfusion.

Second time: It was about five months later, I suddenly got really sick, sore throat, cough, swollen lymph nodes. Went to the doctor and after a ton of tests he said my mono infection reactivated (this can happen up to 2 years after the first infection) I was shocked to learn I had mono again, and very scared since the last time I nearly died. This time I had fevers for three weeks, severe bronchitis, and extreme fatigue.

Even 3 months later I still get fevers once in a while. My body  is still fighting the infection.

Some of they very common symptoms of mono are high fever, a really bad painful throat, swollen glands and tonsils, and weakness and exhaustion. These symptoms usually start after 4 to 6 weeks. Mono is usually diagnosed, when the doctor usually ask you various questions. Usually after doubts on the symptoms you will need to do a blood test.

Mono is best treated when there is sufficient self care taken. First and foremost you need to complete rest. You need to keep gargling with salt water all the while. In order to reduce fever you will require to take acetaminophen (such as Tylenol) or ibuprofen (such as Advil). You must try and keep away from doing any kind of heavy activities such as sports or even weight lifting. Incase you try and do some kind of heavy exercising it could the mono to burst. In some cases doctors advice medicines called corticosteroids. This is mentioned for knowledge; please consult the doctor before use of any kind of medicines.

Try vitamins such as Vitamin C, Lysine, and Multivitamins. Ask your doctor first.
Rest and stress management also helps.
If you experience severe throat problems..see an ENT doctor who can help you address it better.
Good luck!
