    Formula for finding a mid point is:
    X-coordinate of the midpoint=(x1+x2)/2
    y-coordinate of the midpoint=(y1+y2)/2

    Where (x1,y1) are the end points of a line segement on one end and (x2,y2) are the end points of on the other end.

    Keeping the above formula in mind we get:
    D(3,1) and M(0,-4)

    0=(3+x2)/2
    0=3+x2
    therefore x2=-3

    -4=(1+y2)/2
    -8=1+y2
    -8-1=y2
    therefore y2=-9

    So the coordinates for E are(-3,-9)
