What Is The Jack Clegg Memorial Database?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The Jack Clegg memorial database is a searchable database of those who served in the Royal Naval Division between 1914, the start of World War I and 1924. It is now online at www.military-genealogy.com.

The database includes information on more than 10 000 Navy men and more are being added all the time. When complete, this will be another useful military database with which to search for naval ancestors.

The Royal Naval Division was a special division – most members of the division were sailors but very few of them had ever served at sea. Most of the men were drawn from the Royal Naval Reserve and the Royal Marines.

The database has been put together from original service records and sources of information that listed casualties. It is a comprehensive register of the deaths of Royal Navy servicemen who served in the Royal Naval Division during the Great War.
