What Is The Minimum Number Of Representatives A State May Have (excluding Members Of Senate)?

In the Federal Congress, House of Representatives:

A maximum of 435 members. Although some years it goes up for technical or practical reasons. About one member per 500,000 of the US voting population.

The minimum number any state sends is: one. Seven states send only one Rep. These states are either physically small or vast but underpopulated.

Alaska, population ~660,000, Don Young, Republican, since 1973 (over 30 years!) Family man.

Delaware, popn=~843,000, Michael Castle, Republican, lawyer turned politician. Old codger.

South Dakota, popn=~775,000. Stephanie Herseth, Democrat, lawyer turned politician; youngest woman member of the House.

North Dakota, popn=~637,000, Earl Pomeroy, Affiliated to Democratic party. Family man and Background=University type.

Montana, popn=~936,000,Dennis Rehberg, Republican with a big mustache.

Vermont, popn=~623,000. Peter Welch, Democrat.

Wyoming, population ~550,000, Barbara Cubin is the Rep at Large (another Republican).

The physically smallest state, Rhode Island, has a population over 1 million and thus 2 representatives in the House.
