The planet Uranus is formed mainly of gas and various kinds of ices and the surface temperature on the clouds of gases covering it is -218 degree Celsius.

The atmosphere of Uranus is comprised of about eighty-three per cent hydrogen, fifteen per cent helium and two per cent of methane. It also has some traces of acetylene. But the interior of the planet is rich in heavier elements and they are mostly the compounds of oxygen, carbon and nitrogen.

Uranus is the seventh planet on the planetary system that revolves around the sun and is the third largest in diameter. In terms of mass the rank of this planet is the fourth.

It was William Herschel who in the year 1781 discovered this planet and it is also the first planet to be discovered in the modern times.
