    I've heard they're in the same family but they have none of the same properties.

    He's effin' right. Same family, different genus.

    Yeah, that's what i'd heard. I read in "all about beer" magazine that they make it deliberately difficult, but not illegal, for the average person to buy cuttings of hop plants to grow their own because some people have grafted marijuana and hops together in an effort to fool cops about what they're actually growing.
