Who Did Lee Harvey Oswald Marry In The Soviet Union?

In later part of 1959 Oswald went to the Soviet Union. He told officials there that he wished to give up on his US citizenship and live in Soviet Union. At first he was given consideration but later his request was rejected. Although the KGB was against it, Oswald was allowed to stay in the Soviet Union.

He was however sent to Minsk where he worked as a metal lathe operator at the Gorizont. He soon got bored with his job and started re-thinking about returning to US in 1961. In the same year he met Marina Prusakova at a dance.

She was 19 year old at that time, coming from a broken family and also emotionally disturbed. She was pursuing studies in pharmacology and living with her aunt and uncle in Minsk. Her uncle was an expert in the lumber industry. Oswald and Marina were immediately attracted to each other and they quickly got married on April 30, 1961.

Their first child was born in February 1962.
