Why Did The Chruch Really Need For A "Canon Of Scripture?"

Answer Question

There were a lot of conflicting ideas and conflicting accounts of events.  The were a lot of people constantly in dispute with each other and vying for attention.  Groups were formed to promote their own agenda.  The most powerful group suppressed the other groups and through the efforts of the powerful group, they cannonized books were accepted over the apocryphal books.  Clever use of smear tactics, don't you think?  If you want to discredit something, begin referring to it as of dubius origin.  Kind of like the Russian government denial of the episode with the inebriated Aeroflot pilot last week (February 2009).
