How To Format The Hard Drive Which Has The Operating System On It?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

You may want to think hard and long about re-formating your hard drive with an operating system. If you do re-format it, yotu will lose all information stored on it, including all printer and router drivers, all files, all pictures, etc...

With that said, the fastest and easiest way is to insert the operating system disk in the CD/ DVD ROM drive. Reboot the computer and when screen says to press any key to boot from the CD, hit the SPACEBAR. Follow the prompts that are shown. Think about the WARNING, and press CONTINUE ANYWAY. Do not hit R for repair. The operating system disk will format the hard drive, ask some more questions then begin to apply files to put the operating system onto the formatted drive.

In about an hour, the operating system will be on your hard drive. You must now put in all programs that you need, begin with a good anti-virus program so you can safely go online to register the OS. The second thing is to put in important driver software such as your printer.

    GOOD LUCK
