How To Lower A Truck?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Try using these simple steps to lower your truck without burning a hole in your pocket or being a mechanical genius. The front modifications are as easy as replacing the front stock coils with some one inch shorter coils from Bell Tech. You may have to cut the factory coils and this may seem like a cheap way to go, but since the spring is designed for the weight application, ultimately all you have done is completely ruin both your ride and suspension quality. Remember that any modifications to the front end should be followed with some professional alignment.

It is best to use a spring compressor which is available at most local tool rental yards. Use this to retain the front coil spring before attempting removal. Using a compressor is probably the safest way to go. Keep in mind that coil springs may be under severe compression and could fly out like cannon balls, effectively removing parts of your body or a piece of your garage. Play it safe!
