    In 1991, Terry Brooks wrote a short story entitled Imaginary Friends. It was published in an anthology entitled Once Upon A Time: A Treasury of Modern Fairy Tales. Indomitable was another short story by Brooks. It is related to the Shannara series. It was published in an anthology entitled Legends II in 2003.

    One of his short stories, entitled Why I Write About Elves, was published as an Amazon short story in 2005. Brooks and Michael J. Varhola co-authored a book entitled The Writers Complete Fantasy Reference: An Indispensable Compendium of Myth and Magic, which was published by Writer's Digest Books in 2000.

    Brooks' advice to budding writers, entitled Sometimes the Magic Works: Lessons from a Writing Life, was largely based on his own experience as an author. It was published in the year 2003.
