This is another fantastic film by the truly gifted Spanish director Pedro Almodovar. As soon often, he loves the women in his movies, as a gay man, he often exposes their sexuality in a blunt, beautiful, respectful, irreverent way. It is sexuality without sleaze.

In this film, a family of women go through the trials of life, but with the additional absurdity of death poking its head into their affairs.

Raimunda is bringing up her daughter with her beer swilling husband Paco, when one day he tries to have sex with the daughter, the daughter stabs him and together they dispose of the body.

At the same time, the women of the village where their aunt lives are talking about seeing their mother. When the aunt dies, Raimunda is too busy to deal with the funeral, trying to scrape a living and dispose of Paco's body. It's then the Raimunda's sister Sole meets their mother again...

Volver means The Return, there are several other films with this title, a dreadful American horror flick and an impressive and intimate Russian film.
