Who Wants To Start A Blurtit Riot?

Blurtit has never been the same ever since the debate section is gone. I'm tired of seeing questions like; "What Is Blurtit?" "Why Can't I Do This?" And I especially tired of the guest asking perverted or just out of the box questions. Lets bring the excitment back to this place give us the debate section back! Like Three Day's Grace said; "LET"S START A RIOT!"

Answer Question

Unfortunately there were a select few blurters who enjoyed browbeating others who did not agree with their opinions about certain topics and it became a shouting match between many until the powers that be finally said ENOUGH!  If people can behave like adults and enjoy debating topics that may "push the button", then I say the debates should be brought back.  Otherwise don't join in.  If brought back, Blurtit needs to explain what a true debate is and what it is not.  For someone to decide to debate whether McDonalds is better than Burger King is NOT a debatable topic because it is someone's opinion only.  As far as starting a riot, that is no way to bring the debates back here.  It will just get more people kicked off the site.

Tamarind is right about the complaining thing... But I do agree that I want the debates back. I know there was a lot of arguing, but that stemmed from people who didnt want to discuss their points, they just wanted to state their position and be done with it. But thats what a debate is... A give and take.. You have your opinion, I have mine, and we discuss it. Nobody is right, nobody is wrong... You have your right to your opinion as well as I do. Maybe someone should start a debate site.

If you've ever belonged to a debating team, you would understand what a debate is. A real one that is. It has nothing to do with opinion. The point of each side is to use a logical and well thought out point to refute each point the other side has made. It's not a place for people to shout and soapbox, then declare the other side has no valid points. Wars are caused be people who will not concede that the other side has a reason for their beliefs and will not give them any credence what so ever.

Violence has nothing to do with it, Missylissy.  Opinions and requests are not violence, they are just that - opinions and requests.  It's all in how the the material is presented.

So, no, I don't think a riot is the answer.  I've never been a diplomat (that's one of the reasons I married my beloved husband!) and what having M.S. Has taught me (DARN!), but my gut feeling is that this would definitely be the wrong road to take.

I think we need to flood the powers that be with proper requests for a new debate section.  Who knows, maybe they will allow it to happen for us.

But please, let's all play nice together and make RobbieR and Amore001 proud of us.

Thanks for listening to my opinion today.

I'm not for any riot thing, or any other disruptive, non-contributing base of information. I visited the debate site ONCE, and once only. It wasn't a debate site - it was a forum for people to get up on their soapbox and spew their thoughts and DEMAND that you agree with them or else. Thats not a debate or the sharing of ideas. That is egotistical posturing, which you can find on any street corner in any city from a guy that says the world is coming to an end but notice that his poster says 1996 on it.

I would love the debate forum back but not to fuss and fight over answer, I did not notice that there were folk who were fussing over another persons opinion per haps we should ask nicely and advise people that no arguing allowed but inform them that ones opinion is ones opinion and each has a right to their own opinion what type world would it be if everyone thought alike one thing for sure we would not be learning anything......

I don't think a riot would help us to get the debate section back, my friend.
There was so much arguing going on in the debates. Most likely the reason they shut it down.
Also, a riot would just get us kicked off the site. I've been on Blurtit for over a year now and one thing I have noticed is that if you do much complaining, then you are likely to get banned from the site.

The problem was not the debate section it was the time the blurt it team had to put in to take care of petty squabbles .at least that is what they said. They did not have the time to be the arbitrator for the forum..i am all for a R.I.O.T. If the letters stand for Righteous Invasion Of Truth...in other words if the debate section is not willing to listen to all truth then it is not a debate section in my opinion ...just because some fail to see the truth of the bible as fact does not make it so...and this is where the debate section fell apart ...groups of people decided the bible was not factual history but a fairy tale because they had not studied the history of the bible....the dead sea scrolls(historical documents )have proven that the bible is a historical reference just as any other text used to debate fact with....this is why i quit trying to debate ...because a few decided secular teaching over ruled biblical teaching...because they had never studied the text or looked up reference materials connected to the bible proving it is historical fact...and that the laws of the land are based on the original ten commandments and bi laws...but if everyone wants the debate section back i have no problem with them having their debate section...: )...as i have stated before i think they needed it to keep them sane,a diversion from the truth...but i also believe as we have had this discussion before they need a popularity poll section as many of us know that is also why the debate section closed ..people confused a "which is better question" with a debate...and the ones that considered themselves the appointed judges of the debate section did not like this  and could not get blurt it to seperate the two....so we sort of had a riot already but not a constructive one that helped the site...this is my 2 cents...

I'm not into riots.  It seems many want debates back so Blurtit could make rules for expressing a point of view, and if people do not comply, they should deny them entry to the debate, SO THERE!

People who don't have enough to do with and in their lives want such a thing.

Change can be peaceful. If Blurtit doesn't listen and makes arbitrary decisions with which you cannot live, it is not the site for you. Gathering a group of bullies against one person, or being violent on the site as a gang of people with something to prove doesn't get a person anything other than  strange validation and affiliation with needing to be accepted by that group, also often not a great prize.  Dialogue, making requests for change and being able to say why those suggestions make sense gets people further in the end.

Unfortunatley we lost the debate forum by a few who were unruley and we certainly don't need to loose any members due to a perception of one's retalitory venues, all the while, only trying to obtain a privilage that was taken away by unruleyness. The question of getting the privilage to debate policies amongst ourselves has arisen many times since being abolished. What has been allowed was in the group section a debate section was forming. After being away for about two weeks,I log on and I can't find groups anymore.Amore001 is gone and so is Robbier44.Do you know why?I'd like to know.Great debaters, little unruley, but great debaters nonetheless.Anyway what we need is a proposal to the Blurtit Team in requsition in obtaining the debate forum and its reienstatement back into their program. The idea is to be willing to work together with Blurtit, not against them and just maybe we could get the debate section back. But I do like your enthusiasm Redeagle.

I sorely miss the debate section. Been on a few sites that run quite well doing debates. But then again, each debate has a moderator. I guess it could be done within a group, has long as the group manger stayed involved everyday to weed out the nastiness and nonsense. Create a string for pro, and a string for con, each with the same debate heading of course. With the strings updated every few days. Close the whole debate out within a time frame, and post the results. No riots please. I'm to old for a sit-in.

A good debate is great fun. You could also have a soapbox stand. Where anyone can rave on about what ever and take praise or be heckled off. Even better fun. I have seen enough riots here in Belfast Thanx.
