What Are MP3s And Why Are They On The News So Often?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

MP3 is a compression technology that creates very small audio files that can be easily downloaded from the web, or even transferred via email.

MP3 also makes it easy for anyone to burn their own CD compilations of their favorite songs, bands, or styles of music. If your MP3s are stored on a computer, all you have to do is search through your music folder by band name or genre and put the songs into a playlist. From there, you can listen to them off your hard drive or a portable device like an iPod, or record them onto a CD.

The reason MP3s are in the news so often these days is because the technology has revolutionized the music industry. The grip of the recording industry has slackened as MP3 and the internet enables fans to access and choose the music they want to hear. MP3 has empowered not only the consumer but also the artists themselves, allowing them to by-pass record labels and cultivate their own fan base completely online.
