My Chihuahua Has A Stiff Neck, Can You Help?

Answer Question

2 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

Your dog needs to be examined by a veterinarian.  Small dogs are prone to rupture of their intervertebral disc disease.  This can cause paralysis or paresis.  Your veterinarian will do a thorough examination, a neurological examination, and may take x-rays.
Before your appointment keep your dog under strict rest; do not allow running, jumping or playing.  Do not allow your dog to jump in the furniture or walk up stairs.
If this is a sprain or a strain your veterinarian can prescribe appropriate pain medication.

My chihuahua has been suffering from chronic neck pain we have him on steroids and muscle relaxers, it seems to help. What can we do to correct this for the long term w/o prolong medication or surgery?
