Tula was an ancient city of Mexico and it was the capital of Toltecs. According to the ancient historical components the city was flourishing in the 10th to 12th century. There is a little bit controversy about the actual location of that renowned city of the ancient world. Tula was situated near the town of that name in Hidalgo State, and it is the most accepted location by the historians widely. But some scholars did not agree with the location, according to their view Tula was placed in that place what is now called Teotihuacan.

The tombs of the city Tula suggested that it was a large city by its location. Historians imagined that the population was near about ten thousand. The major civic center was consisted of a plaza bordered by a five-stepped pyramid. There were two other pyramids and two ball courts.

The art and the architecture of the city Tula were similar with the Aztec capital, Tenochtitlan. The artistic themes of the Tula suggested the Aztec's concept of themselves as warrior-priests of the sun which were worshipped as god. It was thought that the god was borrowed directly from the city of Tula.
