What Is The Cause For Acoustics Falling Off The Ceiling?

The acoustics on a couple rooms is falling free leaving bare drywall. What would have caused this when they textured the walls and ceilings. I'm getting ready to scrape it off and spray texture on the walls and ceilings and do a knock down on it.

You haven't described the structure of the building. However, I would guess that there is not enough ventilation in the ceiling thereby causing moisture build-up and degradation of the acoustical texturing. If this is happening in areas where there is a crawl space or attic... it is almost a sure bet that you do not have adequate ventilation between your roof and your ceiling. You must have adequate roof venting... many people block it off with blown-in insulation or extra batting, or somehow block off the vents thinking that it will conserve heat... NOT SO... Buildings must breathe. Scraping it off and repainting may not be enough. You may have to also treat for mold.
