Tailgating refers to the practice of driving on a road too close behind another vehicle, such that the travel distance is less than the distance covered in two seconds or equivalent. It is done normally out of frustration and is considered illegal in most of the countries as it can cause accidents.

From what I remember it's obviously riding too close to the car in front of you, usually closer than a car length.
