If you want to know the price of your house, a house in your area or the price of any house which is not sale then the easiest way to get the slightest valuation is to simply visit a website which specialises in selling houses. Just log on, see what's for sale in the area of the house and voila, use that as a ground estimate.
Since this question was posed, there have been new websites developed where you simply search the postcode and it will give you all the houses that have been sold in that area for the last 10-20 years.
