Well if you are writing a novel that is entirely mystery, then quite a bit! It is always good to get your readers wondering, so a bit of mystery is good in any story. Take a look ate some mystery novels to get an idea of how other authors deal with this genre.

Although mystery makes a novel interesting, there can be a little too much of it and you need make sure you explain things well in your stories so that your readers aren't left feeling confused. It is not a good idea to leave a mystery unresolved, as it will leave the readers feeling unsatisfied and confused. However much mystery you include in your stories, always make sure it is resolved at the end and that there aren't any open ends, particularly if it is a standalone novel where the story won't be resolved in a later book.
