Yoga is a very old Indian body of knowledge that dates back more than 5000 years ago. The word "Yoga" came from the Sanskrit word "yuj" which means "to unite or integrate." Yoga is about the unification of a person's own consciousness and the universal consciousness.

Many people believe that yoga is stretching. Stretching is surely involved, but yoga is actually about creating balance in the body through developing both strength and elasticity. The theme of yoga is to be in harmony with one's own self and his environment; he has to put together the body, the mind, and the spirit. For these three to be united, emotion, action, and intelligence must be in equilibrium. It is made through exercise, breathing, and Meditation - the three chief Yoga structures.

You may first move towards Yoga as a technique to attain a great body or to keep fit. Yoga really does facilitate in improving your health because stretching can tone your muscles and your whole skeletal system. Yoga supports you to find your inner peace. Yoga encourages you to explore the real YOU. It exercises not just your body and mind in the best way possible. So, for a healthy body and mind, try yoga.
