    After suffering from the severe economic crisis the Guatemala recovered its economic situation from the year of 2004 and it continued to progress further. The gross domestic product was 2.7 percent in 2004. This growth is due to the private and public expenditures of the country. The situation is still worse in the country. The country is suffering from high inflation rate and the foreign investment is lacked due to the bad political situation of the country and the corruption is very high in this country.

    Despite of the government reforms the large ratio that is 60 percent of the total population is living in the poverty. The agriculture sector only contributes the 22 percent of the gross domestic product and 75 percent is contributed by this sector in the country exports. The main agriculture crops are sugar, banana, cocoa and coffee. But still the agriculture sector is dependable on the climate conditions. The contribution by the forests is 19 percent to the gross domestic product but it is exploited by the people of the country. While the textile factories are developing day by day and they have access to international markets. The major source of earning is from the tourism.
