What Is Considered A Bad Cholesterol Level?

As per the guidelines issued by the joint British Society a persons should have a bad cholesterol level of less than 2 mmol/l and a total cholesterol count of 4 mmol/l. The unit that is used in the measuring of blood cholesterol levels mmol/l translates to millimoles per litre of blood. Cholesterol is necessary for the human body as it helps the body manufacture certain hormones and Vitamin D and it also helps with cell functions. Not all cholesterol is bad. Some is even manufactured in the liver while some other part is obtained from what we eat. LDL or Low-Density lipoprotein is what is transferred from the liver to the other parts of the human body. Too much of this bad cholesterol can lead to serious consequences such as constrained arteries.
