Do I Have To Work 70 Hours A Week And Only Get Paid For 40 If I Am Exempt In California?

Can an employer expect an employee that is exempt to work 70 hours her week and only pay for 40 hours per week.

    In California you say? EMMM let me see now ------- What do you mean by EXEMPT? In California you can not be worked without being paid for every hour you work. All hours over 40, in a 1 week period, must be paid as overtime. At least at time and one half. A person would have to be very stupid to work for free. Call your Labor Comissioners office and ask them.
