    Does Lithium Belong To The Halogen Family?

    For school I have to do a report on Lithium and I need to know what family it belongs to.

    No Lithium is not a member of the halogen family.  All members of the Halogen family have 7 electrons in their outer shells, giving them an oxidation (the process or result of oxidizing) number of -1.

    Lithium is a member of the alkali earth family - it is the first of the alkaline metals.
