Is Nuclear Proliferation A Threat For World?

Answer Question

Nuclear proliferation is the increase in the number of countries having atomic energy to make atomic bomb. The very 1st bomb was blasted on Japan by US during 2nd world war. This gave an impetus to nuclear proliferation round the globe. Nuclear arms race augmented with the passage of time and it is a process which is going on for decades. Now the world has eight nuclear powers while some more are trying to become nuclear power. Iran and North Korea are on the way to nuclear proliferation. This shows the we are going towards a world of threatening nuclear weapons.

Nuclear proliferation is a menace in itself. Already two world wars were quite enough to exploit peoples and property but the current scenario shows third world war would be a war among nuclear power holders. Nuclear proliferation is a real threat for all those who either have or have not nuclear energy. Nuclear proliferation has been raised the threat of war among countries. Now countries are dawdling a colossal amount of money for defense purposes. It is all because they are scared of nuclear powers around them. May God save us from the scrouge of war as nuclear proliferation is making it more threatening.

The progress in technology and science has advantages and disadvantages. The powers harnessed by man, both natural and synthetic have the ability to create and destroy. One of these advances is that of nuclear fission. The power of the splitting up of nuclear elements like uranium or plutonium was first experimented with on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, during World War II. Though this act did bring the war to an end the aftermath lives on.

Nuclear proliferation means the unlicensed access to nuclear energy resources and conducting experiments. In the hands of anti-social elements like terrorists, there is no doubt about the extent of destruction that can be unleashed. Most countries of the world are now nuclear powered and access to defense sensitive information is not unthinkable. Yes, nuclear proliferation is a serious threat to the world.

The radiation and heat generated by nuclear fission or fusion is passed down genetically, to future generations. The biological hazards don't stop here. Every explosion releases huge amounts of plutonium and uranium in the air and this gets dispersed over a large area. This results in increased risk of developing cancer, 'still' born babies in the future, physical deformities and being mentally challenged. We have already started awareness campaigns and drives against pollution and wild life conservation. It is high time that we take an initiative in the direction of nuclear proliferation too, to ensure a safe place for our future generations.
