Does not explain tha pain and sores and itchiness. He wants to proceed with steroid shots but I won't go futher until my scalp heals. My sisters family has had mrsa many times and I'm wondering if this could be mrsa.

MRSA can grow on skin in case of injury. Under normal conditions MRSA can not be on scalp. Alopecia areata is a condition of unknown origin in which hair falls out in patches. Itchy scalp and sores all over head can be due to dandruff. Use some antidandruff medicine. Steroids can play role in solving this problem.

My 3 year daughter has MRSA in her scalp and the infected area has lost all hair except a couple of strands that kept in tact. i would recommend you go to your family doctor, or dermatologist. the Doctor prescribed oral antibiotic and ointment to the infected area. if you don't get it treated it will spread and you will lose more hair and the infected area will get bigger and bigger and when you think it goes away it will come back and spread all over your scalp and might spread to other areas of your body. Also, i had to throw away all her hair brushes, combs and hair accessories that she wore when her scalp was inflamed. find a shampoo that keeps the scalp healthy and moisturized. hope this helps.
