What Does "Audacious" Mean?

    "Audacious" is pronounced (aw DAY shus).  It is an adjective.  It means "Bold, Daring, Contemptuous of Conventional Restraints."

    There are a lot of words that are Similar to Audacious.  They are: Arrogant, Intrepid, Rash, Insolent, Impetuous, Headstrong, and Bold.

    Opposite to Audacious are: Circumspect, Decorous, Timid, Prudent, Restrained, and Forethought (a noun).

    An adjective Describes a person, place, or thing.  You use Audacious to describe a person, a place, or a thing.

    A sentence with audacious:

    "Although many considered her boldness offensive, Maggie's ability to ask audacious questions made her a popular news reporter."

    The opposite of audacious is to be careful and prudent in making a decision, and to act with restraint, obey the conventional boundaries when you do something.
