What Is The Importance Of Allama Iqbal In The History Of Pakistan?

Allama Muhammad Iqbal was a man of great vision and talent. Born on 9 November, 1877, in Sialkot, he was a poet, philosopher, lawmaker, and also a political thinker. He has written in verse as well as prose form in Urdu and Persian, and has contributed extensively to Pakistani literature. Allama Iqbal was initially a staunch supporter of a united nation of Muslims and Hindus, though later he went on to preach the need for a separate Muslim state as an independent entity.

Allama Iqbal's works, poetry as well as prose, talk about the need for a revival in Islam through the concepts of individual freedom, self-development, and integrity. His vision of an independent Muslim state of Pakistan was realized in his lifetime, as he passed away in 1938. However, for his thoughts, his works, and his political and religious vision, he is considered symbolically the father of Pakistan. His contributions to the entire Muslim world have been outstanding, as has been his interpretation of Islamic thoughts and principles. He is also often referred to, because of his poetry, as Shayar-e-Mashriq or Poet of the East.

Allama Iqbal is the national poet of Islamic Republic of Pakistan. He has played an important part in the partition of Pakistan.
He gave the idea of independent Country for Muslims by combination of Muslim majority areas in the sub-continent. Allama Iqbal is considered to be the national poet of Pakistan. The reason is that he not only gave the idea of Pakistan but also through his poetry awakened the Muslims.  The poetry of Allama Iqbal motivated the Muslims to raise their voice for their right. He inserted a new spirit in all Muslims. He was a great philosopher and a true Muslim.

He was the one who convinced Quaid-e-Azam (Father of Pakistan) to come back to Pakistan from United Kingdom in early 1930's. He died before the partition of Sub-Continent and was not able to witness the Independence Day. Quiad-e-Azam later with his leadership qualities achieved his goal. He turned the dream of Allama Iqbal in the reality.  Allama Iqbal was given a status of "Sir" but British. He was a genius who completed his PHD in very short time. His poetry and Philosophy is still read by many and is considered as a guide.

The importance of Allama Iqbal to Pakistan's way to independence is unquestionable. It is as if to ask a dying person the importance of Oxygen. With all front lost, the hope of independence and peace was imagined by this great poet who was born as Mohammad Iqbal on the 9th of November 1877.

The idea of a separate Muslim nation was the envision of Allama (Allama means scholar, he is popularly known as Allama Iqbal for his works) Iqbal. Apart from the political career, he also was a poet and a philosopher. It is the later that he used to bring the spark in the Muslims and finally to Mohammad Ali Jinnah to set the founding stones for a new Muslim nation. His poems which are in Urdu and Persian are regarded as one the best poems in the modern times.

For his works the British accolade him with the status of SIR but for the Muslims of sub-continent he is more than that. Popularly known as Muffakir-e-Pakistan (The Thinker of Pakistan), Shair-e-Mashriq (The Poet of the East), and Hakeem-ul-Ummat (The Sage of  Ummah).

Allama Iqbal finally set from this world on 21st the April 1938. Well before the partition and 2 years before the famous 23rd March 1940's Lahore Resolution.

The history of India and Pakistan is intertwined by destiny. The partition that took place in 1947, resulted in a mass exodus. A number of families and relationships were torn apart and some even destroyed forever. The insurmountable differences between the Hindus and the Muslims in the country led to a violent demand for a separate nation. However, it is interesting to note that the seed of thought for this territory to the north-west of India was sown earlier, in 1930.

Sir Muhammad Iqbal was an Indian born, Muslim poet, philosopher and politician. 'Allama', which means 'scholar' was a title conferred on him. Sir Muhammad Iqbal worked closely with the leader of the Muslim League, Mohammad Ali Jinnah. In fact, the idea of a Muslim territory was first suggested by Sir Muhammad Iqbal. He encouraged the thought through his poetry in Persian and Urdu, which he presented at various meetings of the Muslim League. Sir Muhammad Iqbal died in the year 1938, after the seed had sprouted and the young sapling was growing into a gigantic tree. Sadly, it was a tree that drew a 'line of control' between the two sections of the Indian society that had co-existed for centuries.

The importance of Allama Iqbal is that he was the devoted man/poet who dreamt of another country.Another independent country where all muslims wold be free from slavery by the Hindus and British. It was only after his thoughts that Mohammad Ali Jinnah decided to make it really happen. Also Allama Iqbal was one of the greatest poets for kids and adults of all time.
