I do not think I could.Driving on the ice would be bad enough but thinking when it starts to melt you could fall in and die I do NOT think my nerves could handle it.What about you?

I wouldn't do it unless that was one of the few jobs left on earth.
I don't think they are paid well enough. I can't remember for sure but I think the guy with the most trips might have made $ 40K for 3 (?) months.
But when you consider that Hugh does construction back in the states and his work is slow in Winter he does pretty well. But it is a lot of sacrifice and one guy almost died from pneumonia complications.

Personally I think that these guys are either nuts or thrillseekers, which amounts to the same thing, in my estimation.

I have watched ice road truckers on cable tv and find they are very brave and someone has to do it. They are of all ages and i just love to watch it as it shows how tough their minds really are. They go thru so much mentally with this kind of work. There is my input.

I read the book about 20 years ago . And was fascinated ever since. I could do it I am sure but I certainly have no desire to . Toooo Coooooold for me ,and I live in upstate nY

I could do it for awhile but don't know how long the courage would last. I have driven on the ice many times and it's always left me with an eery feeling.

These are some really tough men to be able to do this all the time and for a living. Life up here is sure different than the lower 48. Do you watch Deadliest Catch too? That is a great one to watch.
