I Really Want To Work For A Publishing Company But I Don't Live Near Any. Should I Move?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

It depends what type of job you would like to do within the publishing industry. If you want to be an editor, then yes, you probably might want to consider moving to a location where there is a publishing company nearby. Whatever you do though, don't move until you have the job!

If you don't wish to move, then you could always consider providing work for a publishing company on a freelance basis. Publishers often use freelance proofreaders and illustrators etc. But if you want to actually experience working within the company then yes, apply for a job and only move to a different location if you get it.

Alternatively, if you are only just a little way out then you could commute via car or even train.
