What Is A Quasi-satellite?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Quasi-satellite is basically a satellite that orbits around the sun on the pattern of a planet. It takes the same time to orbit the sun but has a greater eccentricity. The orbit of the quasi satellite is unstable and lies outside the Hill Sphere of the planet.

It is said to be at a resonance of 1:1 orbital resonance. Our Earth has three Quasi Satellites which are 3753 Cruithne, 2003 YN 107 AND 2004 GU9
