Who Founded GAP?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

GAP which was originally known as The Gap is founded by Donald Fisher and Doris Fisher. It is a clothing retail store that was started in 1969. The name is taken from the growing differences known as the 'generation gap' between adults and children which was at its peak during the hippie movement. Frustrated by the lack of fashionable styles and decent customer services, Fishers came up with their own brand. 'Levi's for Guys and Gals' and 'Fall Into The Gap' were their original mottos. Around 1991-92 Gap stopped carrying Levi's concentrating on their private label clothing. Gap Inc. has 3,005 stores spread across Canada, Japan, United States, Puerto Rico and United Kingdom. Robert Fisher replaced his father Donald Fisher as the Chairman of the Board in 2004.
