Why Are Women Beaten By Their Husbands?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Domestic violence in any form is a criminal offence and in many places there are laws that protect a person suffering physical abuse. There are various support societies like the UK Crown Prosecution Service which assists individuals suffering from domestic violence to find a solution both in social as well as legal terms.

Domestic violence is seen to rise from a sense of frustration with life in general. In most cases domestic violence is linked with the inability of an individual to cope with the outside world resulting in the taking out of one's frustrations on one's family members. Situations in which there is a sole breadwinner in the family are also believed to be susceptible to incidents which could lead to domestic violence.

Also practices like dowry and the like are another cause of domestic violence mainly in places where the social atmosphere is highly conservative. Use of substances like alcohol and drugs are one of the main reasons of domestic violence.
