I have 24 chickens and 3 guineas. My coop is 12x12. I have a six hole nesting box in there and I have boards nailed across the beams in different directions to make roosts for them. My husband had a old storm door and he put that on it, and I made a small door that opens and I hook it so the chickens can come and go during the day to lay their eggs. I also keep their food in tubs in there. You might could get by with a smaller one, but since I use mine to store their feed and the laying box is in it, I needed a bigger one.
