VoIP or broadband telephony as it is sometimes also known, is internet-based and thus permits greater flexibility in working practices and processes. Not only that, VoIP also makes remote and mobile working much more efficient and productive because you are able to access all your important documents and files no matter where you are.

For instance, calls to a VoIP phone avoids the need to give out multiple telephone numbers for when you're at home, in the office, at a different site or even out of the country. Calls 'hunt' for the user wherever they happen to be logged on, or can be forwarded to a mobile phone or landline.

VoIP phone numbers are therefore non-geographic, not unless you want them to be. If, for example, you wanted to give the impression you had an office in London or Sydney, it's only a matter of obtaining the appropriate number from your VoIP provider.
