The human body seems almost unimpressive, the elements that compose it are all present in the earth's day dry dust, and every one of them is found today in sores of ordinary objects. But in the human body, they are combined in so many different ways that a human being is actually made up of thousands upon thousands of complex chemicals compounds. The main substance, accounting for 70 to 85 percent of the water. Is nothing more unusual than water, but many of the other compounds in the human body do not exist at all, in the non-living world.
After water the most abundant substances in the body are proteins, making up to 10 to 20 percent of the whole. Then come inorganic salts, lipids, carbohydrates, and the wondrous nucleic acids. There are two nucleic acids: DNA, which contains the master plan for building the human body, and RNA, which enables the body to follow those plans. In the human body, there are four organizational levels.
The smallest living units are the cells. Some 75 to 100 million millions of them falling in to more than 100 different types. Similar cells, along with the non-living material, matrix, in which they are embedded, are grouped to from tissues. Each kind designed to from carry out specific function. Most of the all is fact that the body is not just a static jumble of chemicals but a dynamic, highly organized, marvelously integrated lining organism. And besides all that, it reproduces and so ensures the continuity of human life.
