My 6 Year Old Son Talks Back All The Time. What Do I Do?

It is important to not get into a "power struggle" with your 6-year-old.  Sit down with him and tell him that talking back to you is not acceptable and if he does this, these are the consequences (then set forth the consequences for that behavior and be consistent in utilizing those.)  If you are consistent, he will eventually learn not to talk back.   You might take away some of his TV time, or have a "time-out" where he has to sit in the corner for ten minutes by himself, or go to his room for ten minutes.  Consistency is important as it will reinforce your "rules" and he will learn what behaviors are acceptable and which ones are not.
