    Mount St Helens is situated in the Skamia County, Washington and is located in the Pacific Northwest region of the USA.  It is an active stratovolcano and gained notoriety because of the catastrophic eruption on May 18, 1980. The eruption is considered as the most destructive in economic terms in the recent history of United States of America. Fifty seven people lost their lives and many homes were destroyed. The eruption also destroyed the 300 kilometres of highway. The eruption caused a massive accumulation of debris avalanche and is the largest in the history.
            
    Mount St Helens, like other volcanoes in the Cascade Range is a great cone rubble that consists of lava rock and has interlayer of ash, Pumice and several other deposits too.
