Warrington is a town situated in the north-west of England. The ceremonial county of the town is Cheshire and the historic counties are Lancashire and Cheshire. The total population of the county is 194,700 and the total area is 180.64 square kilometers.

In modern times the town has grown quite rapidly and is now seeking the status of a city for itself. It has made an effort also in that direction by developing a cultural quarter that is centered on Palmyra Square.

This town has many high-tech industries that has replaced the traditional industries and it is because of this the unemployment rate in the town is one of the lowest in Britain.

Even during Roman times, this town was an industrial centre and some remains of that era can be found even today at Wilderspool.
