How And Where Do You Start An Oil Rig Career?

There are a number of positions available for those interested in carriers related to oil rigs and platforms. The entry level position on oil rigs are those of leaseholds. These are entry level positions and leaseholders get promoted in time to Floorhands. Tasks of leaseholders include building fences, unloading trucks, assist with maintenance and digging ditches. Floorhands are responsible for housekeeping, cleaning and maintaining equipment, assist in laying the casing of wells, obtaining analysis of samples of drilled cuttings.

The next positions are those of Motorhands and Derrickhands. Motorhands manage the heavy drilling equipment while as the name suggest Derrickhands are working mostly on the Derricks.  Higher level positions include those of Rig Managers and Drilling Rig Managers.
