What Makes Spooks Such An Enjoyable Television Show?

Spooks, like any programme of its style is enjoyable because we have access to an otherwise secret world, where we would never routinely have accessed granted. In Spooks, this world is British intelligence and more specifically MI5. Spooks enjoyment for a lot of people must work because we have several good looking dynamic figures who are willing to put themselves in harms way to protect a fictional version of ourselves, the British public.

Of course Spooks has had quite a rotation of cast members, almost no one is left from the originals, only the character of Harry, the Head of the Section. Spooks also plays into our fears by having the team deal with zeitgeist issues of terrorism, different types from Islamic to Fascism or Bio-Terrorism. Each week these brave young guys and girls conquer our fears looking (slightly Aryan) tough with stiff upper lips and high tech hardware. It plays into our insecurities and exorcises some of them, it also promotes a very positive image of the Security and Intelligent services.
