What Is Joint Custody?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Joint Custody basically is a court order by which custody of the child is awarded to both the parties. A lot of countries specify two types, of joint custody which is Joint physical custody and joint legal custody.

During joint physical custody, real accommodation and care for the child is mutually shared on the basis of the court-ordered custody schedule. In quite a few cases, the expression 'visitation' is no longer applied. Generally in joint legal custody, together the mother as well as the father shares the right to have access to schooling, physical condition and other records, and have equal right to take decisions which will be suitable for the child.

You should keep in mind that joint physical custody and joint legal custody are two diverse aspects of custody.
