How Is Nail Polish Applied?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Nail polish also known as nail varnish basically is a decorative lacquer which is put on nails of both the hands and legs with the help of a brush, often as adornment and even as a type of protection.

The trend of applying colour to fingernails was started by the Chinese and the Egyptians during 3000 BC. The Chinese usually applied coloured lacquer, which was created from a mixture of gum Arabic, egg whites, gelatine, beeswax, etc. Another mixture created by the Chinese use to consist of crushed petals or roses, orchids and impatiens mixed with alum.

On the other hand Egyptians applied stains in an effort to colour their nails along with finger tips. Generally all nail polishes are created from nitrocellulose which is liquefied in a solvent and is later coloured with the help of different pigments.
