After the meeting of the First Continental Congress, the Second Continental Congress took place in May 1775 at the same venue the First Continental Congress had taken place, which was the venue of Philadelphia. Some very important decisions were made that were relevant to the future of the American colonists and the upcoming American Revolution. This instance all the thirteen colonies sent their representatives to the meeting unlike the erstwhile time when Georgia did not participate in the meeting of the First Continental Congress.

It was decided that the colonists should form a unified military force of their own, which would have soldiers from all thirteen British colonies. The mutual consensus declared George Washington as the commander in chief of the colonist military forces. Moreover the Congress also shaped the decision of sending Benjamin Franklin, another important leader, to France to ask for their assistance if the need arose for a war.

The Second Continental Congress took place in 1775 after the First Continental Congress. They both took place in Philadelphia. They both had different talk about meetings and were much alike though.
