Kelly (Kay-lee) is a popular name used for both genders. It means a warrior and connotes aggressiveness and strife; it also means nature especially spring time and woods. There are various theories regarding its origins; according to many people it is mainly of Gaelic origin and was originally used as a surname referring to the Irish O' Kelly clan. The name became popular as a first name for boys; though later mainly because of World famous Academy Award winning actress Grace Kelly the name started being used for girls too.

My name's Kelly too. I heard that it's related to Irish Celts (eew) and that it also means war/warrior. Similar to my personality! LOL
