A cell is a microscopic and highly complex but organized unit of the body. Each cell consists of different organelle, elements of cells, responsible for performing different kinds of functions. The centre of these organelles is nucleus. Nucleus is responsible for the overall control mechanism of the cell. Nucleus contains the genes as well. Hence it is the most important one. The other organelles are: Mitochondrion, Cell Membrane, Lyosomes, Glogi Body, Vesicles, Cytoplasm, Ribosome, Nucleolus, and Endoplasmic Reticulum. The human body, in average, is made up of more than 100 trillion cells.

Cells can be divided into three ways depending on the property of the cell. The three types of cell division are:

    (1) Binary Fusion
    (2) Mitosis
    (3) Meiosis

Many organisms like bacteria reproduce by using the method of binary fusion. But in human cell, there are mitosis and meiosis. During mitosis, each cell copies itself and the occurrence and frequency of the process is dependent on the location of the cell. For example, epithelial or skin cells get involved in this process more frequently than that of nerve cells. On the other hand, meiosis is responsible for generating germ cells that is eggs and sperms. Meiosis is characterized by two subdivisions and results into a reduction in genetic content, that is, cells with haploid number of chromosomes.
