There are five tenets of modern Taekwondo and they are rules by which the practitioner of Taekwondo is required to live their life with the practice of Taekwondo.

    Courtesy
    Integrity
    Perserverance
    Self Control
    Indomitable Spirit

Courtesy is respect for your seniors, elders and betters.
Integrity is being honest, never cheating, being reliable at your word and being able to keep a secret or a promise.
Perserverance, never surrender and never give up, keep going, or as the Royal Marines say, You can slow down but you can't stop.

Self control, having the power to master yourself is one of the greatest personal attributes to maintain, do not anger when someone tries to rattle your cage, stay focused under pressure, think before you act is probably the best way of thinking about it.

Indomitable Spirit means gut, never fear your opponent, an attacker or a situation, you are prepared, trained and ready
