I Need Your Help To Learn How Can I Offer My Husband A Low Potassium Diet?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Needing to eat a low potassium diet, can stem from kidney and other problems, that may cause too much potassium in the blood.
Under these conditions the potassium consumed, should be limited to 2000mg of potassium per day.
As a general marker, foods in the meat, fish, poultry and bread groups are low, provided, they have not been overly salted, which is a no no. Salt sould be substituted with herbal salts, containing no salt, and not salt substitute, which contains salt.
Foods to avoid completely are chocolate, bananas, nuts, milk,
    yougurt,oatmeal and bran.
There is an excellent web site which you sould have a look at and use, to help you help your husband,
called www.strong health.com  on which, there is a fantastic page specially for you, called  the potassium restricted diet.
This site has all the foods and information you need, and portions.
Another is www.healthtouch.com  with a similar page, that covers all the relevant issues on potassium.
    Good Luck!
