The weight gain is the side effect of all contraceptives because they contain female synthetic hormones like estrogen and progesterone. These hormones are steroids and all steroidal hormones cause water retention leading to weight gain. Now the WHO has recommended the pills with 27 micro gram of Ethynylestradiol in all pills.
